Technology Project

Over the last few weeks we've been learning about simple machines.  Most of this was done online so once the school opened we put our learning to practice.  The students needed to plan and implement their own toy-machines out of recycling materials.  Creativity was the main drive behind this project. Although the students watched a few YouTube videos, they needed to come up with their own designs.  We finished this exciting activity with sharing our machines over the ZOOM  and a robot race.

What makes you unique?

One of today's Literacy activities combined our learning about adjectives with learning about each other.  What makes us unique was a provocation to start this conversation.  After reading an eBook that highlighted uniqueness of everybody, the children made posters in class. The online learners were able to complete this activity at the same time on the white during an open ZOOM.

Science Box

Today, we got a science box. Two students chose an activity, read the instructions, set up safe stations outside and conducted this exciting activity with other students.

Navigating Our Learning in 2021

We are exploring back to school learning mixed with the online learning.  It is getting better wearing masks and trying to actively listen.  It is not easy but we persevere.  A mix of academic tasks, ZOOMing with at home friends, choosing own activities, outside activities and tuakana students teaching parts of lessons has been adopted.
