Static Stretches After Maths

We are learning about statistics this term. This week the students are having a go at the range of different activities.  We have finished the session with learning about the static stretches and its importance to our body. Shaan used a piece of blue tac to illustrate this idea. After, we tried a few stretches and even some yoga.

Kiwi As Dip

We celebrated the last day of Term 2 and our "We are all Kiwis" learning with the kiwi dip. We mixed up the onion soup with the reduced cream and enjoyed it with some kiwi carrots and potato chips. Yum! Well, for most of the students...

3 D Pepehas

To showcase our integrated studies here are our 3 D Pepehas. It includes our mountain, our river, our native birds, our fale's endemic tree, our school and ourselves. This term our learning was rich, meaningful and layered. We've investigated some of New Zealand ecosystems through the lense of conservation. The children learned that they are a vital part of the ecosystems.  They are the kaitiaki, guardians of the environment.  By 2025 New Zealand is aiming to be predator free. Students worked out that they will be 37 or 38 by then. Will they remember to look  after our environment as adults? One should hope so. We've read many books about our native birds, land and sea. We've explored Maori perspectives and learned our pepehas. Many of our students are learners of English so it's been reassuring to hear the words like endemic, nocturnal, endangered, predators or echolocation in their conversations. To apply the knowledge in different ways we've done many art projects. This was to spark the conversations, relax and consolidate learning by being creative.
