Investigating light through Diwali Pattern

What better way to investigate the phenomenon of light than making all sorts of Diwali patterns and testing them outside. With the whole class and a few of our Room 25 buddies we looked at how light goes through some materials like plastic and thin paper. When we tested light with thicker materials the light was blocked. Then the children made Diwali patterns with different surfaces like plastic, card and wood. We went outside to test our creations. It was amazing to see our colourful creations projecting on the ground. The ones made with the cardbord did not project colours but we could see the shadows.
