Taking the Learning Into Own Hands

One of our students decided to learn about volcanoes.

Learn Create Share

Here are a few examples of the students in our class sharing their home-learning with the rest of the class. Both girls engaged in learning, where they had to follow a set of instructions.

Learning to Mahi Tahi

We've started a new way of doing Maths by solving problems in collaboration.  We're finding that there are different ways of working out problems together.

Learning about flying

Yesterday we engaged in the science experiment.  We've started by brainstorming the science behind flying. One of the students played the role of Ikarus, who wanted to fly like a bird. After a pretend crash we looked at some airplane prototypes by Leonardo Davinci. The children were very excited when our student teacher,  Miss Lee, announced that they were to make a propeller. With the help of YouTube,  the children persevered with their paper machines. Soon,  they discovered that the height from which the propeller was dropped affected the quality of the spin. When we took our experimenting outside to a higher ground,  we also observed  the effects of the wind.  The children asked us to email their parents the link for this experiment they loved so much.

Keep On Trying!

Today we've set up a team challenge.  The children had to move a few tiny objects in and out of a container with chopsticks.  It wasn't easy as some did not use these tricky utensils before. The team members had to encourage each others. The students kept on trying, nobody gave up! And that showed RESILIENCE.
